CLP KIDS Online LessonStay focused on God and His Goodness and the Things He Makes New Read Today's Scripture from Mark 13:1-8 The Destruction of the Temple and Signs of the End Times13 As Jesus was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, “Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!” 2 “Do you see all these great buildings?” replied Jesus. “Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.” 3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately, 4 “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?” 5 Jesus said to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 6 Many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am he,’ and will deceive many. 7 When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 8 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains. Go Deeper: There are a lot of conflicting messages we are bombarded with daily. How do we know who or what to trust? In today's story, Jesus reminded His disciples that there would be a lot of hardships to face, and a lot of people who might try to deceive, but we can rely on the Lord for ultimate truth. If we know someone, we recognize we can trust them. Focusing on the Bible helps us to know God’s heart, and recognize we can trust Him. Everything in this life will eventually pass away. Our time on Earth and Earth itself are temporal, and we have no way of knowing exactly what is coming or when. It can be easy to be led astray or confused by people who claim to have answers that can’t be known. The good news is that we can rely on Jesus. Despite those who would try to lead us astray, we can trust His words and know that God is faithful to keep His promises. ASK

Pray
Dear God, Thank you for today and for teaching us through your words in the Bible. Help us to understand that even when things seem uncertain or scary, we can trust in you. Please guide us to know who and what to trust in a world full of different messages. Help us to focus on your love and truth. Just like Jesus taught his disciples, help us to remember that you are always with us, and we can rely on you no matter what. In Jesus' name, Amen. |

Table Talk: Lenten DevotionalTURN IN JARS AND COLLECTION ON EASTER We hope you and your family are enjoying this year's Lenten devotional. The Devotional readings, as well as the information about the organizations CLP partners with and supports, provided in the Missions booklet, are meant to help with reflecting on the heart of God and what we can do to help bring about God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. There will also be a candle in your jar to help set up your space for this special time together with God. In addition, we will have an eNews article every Monday that highlights the week's mission organization and includes a link for donations should you prefer to use that method of donating. The CLP Kids extension is found in the book that was given to each family as a gift. Should you decide to use the jar in this way, it is meant to serve as a visible reminder of the difference your household can make as coins or dollars are placed inside, daily, or weekly, as you travel the Lenten road from Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday. Please return the container with your donations on Easter Sunday. If you are unable to attend a worship service at CLP on Easter Sunday, the jar may be returned to the church office. All donations received will be divided evenly between our mission partners. If your household is not able to make a donation, please feel blessed as you use the devotional and candle. Your Mission Committee: Crissie Jameson, Nancy Oreshack, Judy Fulton, Jane Holdcroft, Charlotte Montanus, Judy Mercy, Donna Gray, Christa Denofsky, Emily and Ed Striffler, Deb Martinez, Cindy Biedecapp and Pastor Lynne. |
