CLP KIDS Online LessonOffer God Everything! The Widow’s Offering41 Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. 42 But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. 43 Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. 44 They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.” Who gave more money? Why did Jesus say that the widow gave more when she actually give less than the rich man? The widow was giving sacrificially, meaning she gave up what was precious to her. She had nothing else besides these two coins! No money for food or clothing, but she trusted God to take care of everything!
Remember: What matters most to God is the inner state of our hearts, not the outward appearance. God is not focused on a specific amount of giving, but giving sacrificially with complete trust in Him. For more infomation visit:

Somethings to Consider
The rich gave some of the great wealth they had. It was not sacrificial giving. They wanted others to think they were righteous and good, but on the inside they were actually prideful and selfish. They were seeking to honor themselves, saying “look at me! Look at how good I am!” Instead of honoring God, saying, “Look to God! Look at how good He is!” |
Pray!
Heavenly Father, Thank you for being a faithful and loving God. Thank you for the Bible that guides us and tells us who You are and what Your will is for our lives. Help me to be kind and respectful. Help me to give You EVERYTHING and trust You. I pray that when I do kind things and love and serve others it glorifies You! Thank you for loving me and being with me always. In Jesus' name, Amen. |

Table Talk: Lenten Devotional
We hope you and your family are enjoying this year's Lenten devotional. The Devotional readings, as well as the information about the organizations CLP partners with and supports, provided in the Missions booklet, are meant to help with reflecting on the heart of God and what we can do to help bring about God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. There will also be a candle in your jar to help set up your space for this special time together with God. In addition, we will have an eNews article every Monday that highlights the week's mission organization and includes a link for donations should you prefer to use that method of donating. The CLP Kids eNews will have a family extension, too. Should you decide to use the jar in this way, it is meant to serve as a visible reminder of the difference your household can make as coins or dollars are placed inside, daily, or weekly, as you travel the Lenten road from Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday. Please return the container with your donations on Easter Sunday. If you are unable to attend a worship service at CLP on Easter Sunday, the jar may be returned to the church office. All donations received will be divided evenly between our mission partners. If your household is not able to make a donation, please feel blessed as you use the devotional and candle. Your Mission Committee: Crissie Jameson, Nancy Oreshack, Judy Fulton, Jane Holdcroft, Charlotte Montanus, Judy Mercy, Donna Gray, Christa Denofsky, Emily and Ed Striffler, Deb Martinez, Cindy Biedecapp and Pastor Lynne. |
