Sr. Pastor Search Update
The Sr. Pastor Search Committee has interviewed three applicants and has put one applicant through to the board of directors. The board will be meeting with this applicant at the end of the month. Should the board approve this applicant, the applicant will be asked to come to CLP and preach one Sunday with a congregation meeting immediately following to vote either for or against the applicant becoming our Sr. Pastor. If the board does not approve this applicant then the search with the recruiter will begin again. Your board of directors is making plans for both scenarios. This is a process and the Search Committee has spent many hours making sure we make good recommendations to the board. For those not familiar with our constitution and bylaws, I would like to read how a Sr. Pastor is selected as stated in that document: The Senior Pastor shall be called in the following manner by the members of the church whenever a vacancy occurs: 1) The Board President shall designate one member of the Board of Directors as chairperson of the search committee. A Pastoral Search Committee shall be formed by the chairperson. The search committee shall seek information concerning possible candidates, conduct interviews, correspondence, etc., until it is ready to make a recommendation for a candidate to fill the vacancy. 2) The search committee shall submit its nomination to the Board of Directors. If the Board of Directors approves the nomination; the Board will call a Special Meeting to vote on the nominee. 3) The Senior Pastor’s call shall be by a two-thirds vote of those members present at a Special Congregational Meeting called for that purpose. We will update you at the end of the month and I ask you to continue to be in prayer for the church. I thank you for your patience and grace as we walk through this season. For more infomation visit:

Thrive! Adult Bible StudyPilgrimage to Israel Kathy Broom will be leading our Thrive Adult Bible study for two weeks beginning Tuesday, January 30 at 10am and Wednesday, January 31 at 6pm in Souers Community Hall. In October of 2019, she joined Rev. Dr. Karoline Lewis and 30 other folks from the US and Canada for a pilgrimage to Israel. We visited holy places where Jesus walked and talked, where he performed miracles, and the areas where he lived among the people. Her pictures extend from ancient settings to modern Jerusalem. We hope you’ll consider joining Kathy for a pictorial walk of her journey to Israel.

Table Talk: Lenten DevotionalPickup on Sunday, February 11 The Missions Committee hopes to introduce you to our mission partners and encourage contributing to them during Lent. Table Talk jars will be available in the sanctuary beginning Sunday, February 11 through the season of Lent. The Devotional readings, as well as the information about the organizations CLP partners with and supports, provided in the Missions booklet, are meant to help with reflecting on the heart of God and what we can do to help bring about God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. There will also be a candle in your jar to help set up your space for this special time together with God. In addition, we will have an eNews article every Monday that highlights the week's mission organization and includes a link for donations should you prefer to use that method of donating. The CLP Kids eNews will have a family extension, too. Should you decide to use the jar in this way, it is meant to serve as a visible reminder of the difference your household can make as coins or dollars are placed inside, daily, or weekly, as you travel the Lenten road from Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday. Please return the container with your donations on Easter Sunday. If you are unable to attend a worship service at CLP on Easter Sunday, the jar may be returned to the church office. All donations received will be divided evenly between our mission partners. If your household is not able to make a donation, please feel blessed as you use the devotional and candle. Your Mission Committee: Crissie Jameson, Nancy Oreshack, Judy Fulton, Jane Holdcroft, Charlotte Montanus, Judy Mercy, Donna Gray, Christa Denofsky, Emily and Ed Striffler, Deb Martinez, Cindy Biedecapp and Pastor Lynne. |
