IMPORTANT: Fake Emails Impersonating Pastor Kris

Dear Church Family,

We want to make you aware of a scam email currently being sent to some members of our church that appears to be from Pastor Kris McCoy. Please know that this email is not from Pastor Kris or The Church at Litchfield Park.

The message is written to sound personal and asks the recipient to begin a “confidential” conversation by email. Please do not respond to this email or continue any conversation with the sender. If you receive this message, please delete it or mark it as spam/junk.

For your awareness, below is a copy of the fraudulent email currently being received:

Good morning to you.

I pray this message finds you well and filled with God's peace, joy, and love. 

I have a confidential ministry-related matter that I would like to discuss with someone I deeply trust, and you came to mind. If you are comfortable, could we connect via email? Please let me know, and I will gladly share the details with you.

Thank you for your faithfulness and willingness to serve. May God continue to bless and strengthen you abundantly.

The Church at Litchfield Park will never send an email asking you to:

• Send money, gift cards, or financial donations directly to a pastor or staff member
• Provide personal, financial, or account information by email
• Participate in a private or confidential conversation through an unexpected email
• Purchase gift cards or other items on behalf of a pastor or church staff member
• Click on suspicious links or open unexpected attachments

Scammers can make an email appear to come from someone you know by using their name or an email address that looks similar to a legitimate address. Do not rely solely on the name displayed at the top of the email. Check the actual sender's email address.

If you receive an unexpected message claiming to be from Pastor Kris, another pastor, or a member of our church staff and something seems unusual, please do not reply. If you are unsure whether a message is legitimate, contact the church office directly using our regular contact information rather than replying to the suspicious email.

These types of scams are unfortunately common and are often designed to start with a simple, innocent-sounding request. Once someone responds, the scammer may then ask for money, gift cards, personal information, or other assistance.

When in doubt, don't respond. Contact the church office directly.
