Sunday's Sermon
This past Sunday we enjoyed worship with our handbell choir at 8:30 am. The bells were joined by the CLP Band for a richly textured 10 am service. Pastor Ted preached a sermon entitled "The Called" from Luke 5:1-11. In this passage, Jesus calls Peter away from his commercial fishing career into a ministry of fishing for human beings. He shared some cultural and literary background information that can help us better understand Jesus' calling on our lives and for us as a congregation. As you prepare your heart and mind to watch this sermon, think about the ways that God is calling you to serve.

CLP Kids, Youth, and Nursery Highlights
This Sunday at CLP Kids, we explored the story of Joshua and Jericho (Joshua 6). God called Joshua to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, but first, they faced the massive walls of Jericho. Instead of fighting, God gave an unexpected command—march around the city in silence for six days, and on the seventh day, march seven times and shout. In faith, they obeyed, and the walls came crashing down! This story reminds us that God's ways are not always what we expect, but when we trust Him, He makes the impossible possible. Kids can apply this by trusting God in difficult situations and being obedient to His guidance, even when it doesn’t make sense. In Rise Up, Youth!, we unpacked the sermon and added ONE THING to our faith toolbox: Habit Stacking. Inspired by the book Atomic Habits by James Clear, we learned how small daily habits can lead to big spiritual growth. Instead of trying to start something new from scratch, we can attach a new habit to one we already do every day. For example, after brushing our teeth, we can take a moment to pray, or after getting into bed, we can read a short devotional. This week’s challenge is to stack a daily devotional into our routine. One easy way to do this is by using the Lectio 365 app, which offers short, guided devotions to help us start and end the day focused on God. Heres a link to find out more: Confirmation also began this Sunday with seven youth taking their first steps in the journey! We are excited to support them as they grow in their faith and understanding of what it means to follow Christ. Have a great week, and please continue to pray over our children as they grow in their faith, learn, and practice what it means to serve in Christ’s love and engage in God's mission. Blessings, |
