January 8: NO CLP KIDSGod's Promise of Jesus This Sunday is Communion Sunday so CLP Kids will not meet, instead, we encourage you to join us in Souers Community Hall at 10:45 for our informal service where we'll have tables and activities set up, especially for CLP Kids! |
Jesus is the culmination of God's promises fulfilled
Although there isn't any CLP Kids, we invite you to read Matthew 3:1-17 as a family. The passage introduces us to John (the Baptist) and his message, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near." John baptized people after they repented of their sins and turned toward God. Your kids will love hearing about John and his interesting clothing and eating habits and that Jesus started his ministry by being baptized by John! Jesus is the culmination of God's promises fulfilled. We find blessing, hope, peace, a savior, and a constant companion and friend in Him. Believing in Jesus and inviting Him into our lives through surrender and prayer brings about a change in our hearts, changing our lives and how we see and move in the world. Just as John's actions pointed towards the promise of Jesus, ours should, too. As followers of Jesus, we are made new and different. When others comment on the way we live, speak, and act in the world, we can respond that our lives are shaped by our faith and love for and from Jesus! For more infomation visit:

Invitation to Conversation
- Discuss what it means to repent and turn towards God. Make sure to remind your children that they will make mistakes and make bad choices but repenting means we admit our mistakes, ask for forgiveness, and recommit to making better choices. - Have you ever wondered why Jesus was baptized? Take a moment to think about that and then share your thoughts. - Re-read Matthew 3:16-17. Talk about what the voice from heaven said. - The Spirit here is described as a dove. Talk about the Holy Spirit and how it is part of the Holy Trinity. |

Pray!
Heavenly Father, thank You for Jesus, and thank You for the Bible that teaches, guides, confronts, and encourages. As we enter into a new year together, give us both guidance and protection. Be with each of us, reminding us of Your presence and promise. May everything we do, say, and think point others towards You and Your great love for us. Amen! |
