Missions of MercyWeek 2 of Table Talk Lenten Study The CLP Missions Committee Liaisons to Mission of Mercy are Emily and Ed Striffler. Mission of Mercy’s mission is to restore dignity and “Healing through Love” by providing free healthcare. Providing compassionate, holistic, and cost-effective primary care to Maricopa County’s uninsured population, Mission of Mercy is the only completely free mobile medical clinic that also dispenses free medications, serving Maricopa County’s uninsured and under-insured with no sliding scales or co-pays. Since 1997, Mission of Mercy has provided more than 200,000 patient visits and dispensed more than 300,000 prescriptions. With a fully equipped mobile unit, Mission of Mercy is able to diagnose and treat conditions ranging from acute to chronic illnesses. Clinics have been designed to resemble a private primary care clinic office and provide a continuum of care, not just urgent or screening services. With an emphasis on preventive care and chronic disease management, we help patients avoid dangerous complications and costly emergency care. Collaborative relationships enable our patients to receive additional no-cost medical care, including lab tests, X-rays, and more. The Church at Litchfield Park supports Mission of Mercy with financial donations. Find out more at https://www.amissionofmercy.org/arizona/ |
Homeward BoundWeek 2 of Table Talk Lenten Study The CLP Missions Committee Liaison to Homeward Bound is Crissie Jameson. Founded with one single-family home in 1990, 5,766 families facing homelessness have been served since 1999. Homeward Bound soon learned that housing alone could not solve family homelessness. HB began offering case management, financial coaching, and employment help to prepare families to transition into stable housing. In 2000, Thunderbirds Family Village opened, providing wrap-around services to the entire family. The 5-acre campus has 76 apartment units, an onsite daycare center, an employment center, a teen center, a library, and food and clothing pantries. GED classes are offered, as well as online classes on finance, healthy relationships, and parenting. In 2021, HB implemented a model shift to become a housing-first program with a low barrier to entry through a hybrid campus of bridge shelter and transitional housing for families. HB also expanded to add a Homelessness Prevention program in response to community needs. Homeward Bound’s workforce development program provides in-house assessments and develops an individualized employment plan with clients. HB’s youth programs empower youth and their families to develop skills, foster healthy relationships, and access programs that enhance their social and emotional skills and minimize barriers to success. Strong Foundations is a licensed early learning center for clients and community members located on HB’s campus. HB University is an additional resource for families experiencing poverty or homelessness, providing them with tools to change their trajectory without ever having to step on our campus. CLP helps to support Homeward Bound through financial donations and occasional drives for specific items. Find out more at https://homewardboundaz.org/ |
