Sr. Pastor Search UpdateCongregation Meeting February 25, 2024 A few weeks ago, Personnel Director, Nancy Oreshack, announced that the Sr. Pastor Search Committee had put forth an applicant to the Board of Directors. The Board of Directors met on January 30th to interview the applicant, Rev. Dr. Karen Stewart (see above picture). At the conclusion of the interview, the board excused Pastor Karen and held a thorough discussion. Pastor Kris led a moment of prayer, and a vote was taken. I’m pleased to say that the board approved this candidate, presented her the terms of the contract and Rev. Dr. Karen Stewart is in agreement with those terms. We now move forward to the next step in the hiring process by asking Pastor Karen to come to The Church at Litchfield Park to preach. Pastor Karen will be on our campus to preach at all three services on February 25th and feel free to introduce yourself between services. The next step is to hold a congregation meeting and that will convene after the 10:45 service on February 25th. The congregation meeting will take place in Souers Community Hall beginning at 11:45 am. All may attend the meeting, but only church members may vote, and we encourage all members to attend as a quorum is necessary to conduct business. At the meeting, we will give the congregation an opportunity to ask questions regarding Pastor Karen. A motion to hire Pastor Karen will be presented to the congregation, and a vote will be taken and then tallied. As stated in our constitution and by-laws, a two-thirds vote of members present will determine the outcome. While the votes are being tallied, your Board of Directors will be sharing other important information stemming from questions received from the congregation. Please continue to hold The Church at Litchfield Park in your prayers asking for God’s will and God’s wisdom in this matter. We look forward to seeing you at church and the congregation meeting on February 25th. |
CELEBRATING AIMEE
Please join us on Sunday as we celebrate Aimee Wickersham’s time in ministry at CLP as our Children/Youth Ministry Director. Aimee joined the CLP team 2 ½ years ago and has been instrumental in forming connections with the children and youth as we were seeking to rebuild these ministries post-Covid. We plan to recognize her time of service during each worship service this coming Sunday, February 11, and will have cake in honor of Aimee during our regularly scheduled coffee fellowship.

Thrive! Adult Bible StudyPilgrimage to Israel Kathy Broom will be leading our Thrive Adult Bible study for two weeks beginning Tuesday, January 30 at 10am and Wednesday, January 31 at 6pm in Souers Community Hall. In October of 2019, she joined Rev. Dr. Karoline Lewis and 30 other folks from the US and Canada for a pilgrimage to Israel. We visited holy places where Jesus walked and talked, where he performed miracles, and the areas where he lived among the people. Her pictures extend from ancient settings to modern Jerusalem. We hope you’ll consider joining Kathy for a pictorial walk of her journey to Israel.

Table Talk: Lenten DevotionalPickup on Sunday, February 11 The Missions Committee hopes to introduce you to our mission partners and encourage contributing to them during Lent. Table Talk jars will be available in the sanctuary beginning Sunday, February 11 through the season of Lent. The Devotional readings, as well as the information about the organizations CLP partners with and supports, provided in the Missions booklet, are meant to help with reflecting on the heart of God and what we can do to help bring about God’s kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. There will also be a candle in your jar to help set up your space for this special time together with God. In addition, we will have an eNews article every Monday that highlights the week's mission organization and includes a link for donations should you prefer to use that method of donating. The CLP Kids eNews will have a family extension, too. Should you decide to use the jar in this way, it is meant to serve as a visible reminder of the difference your household can make as coins or dollars are placed inside, daily, or weekly, as you travel the Lenten road from Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday. Please return the container with your donations on Easter Sunday. If you are unable to attend a worship service at CLP on Easter Sunday, the jar may be returned to the church office. All donations received will be divided evenly between our mission partners. If your household is not able to make a donation, please feel blessed as you use the devotional and candle. Your Mission Committee: Crissie Jameson, Nancy Oreshack, Judy Fulton, Jane Holdcroft, Charlotte Montanus, Judy Mercy, Donna Gray, Christa Denofsky, Emily and Ed Striffler, Deb Martinez, Cindy Biedecapp and Pastor Lynne. |
