German Prisoners of War in Arizona during World War II

Arizona was once home to 24 WWII prisoner-of-war camps, many of which housed German POWs. Scholar and author Steve Hoza will tell the story of these prisoners on Tuesday, February 7th at 10:30 A.M. and Wednesday, February 8th at 6:00 PM in Souers Hall. Mr. Hoza has interviewed hundreds of former POWs, guards, camp personnel, and civilians who employed POW labor. He incorporates artifacts and video into his presentation to help depict this remarkable period of Arizona history.

A Phoenix native, Steve Hoza is a recognized authority on WWII and has a 40-year career in museums. He has authored two books on WWII in Arizona and currently works as an artifact conservator at the Salt River Indian Community. Mr. Hoza also runs the official website for the iconic Arizona television program, The Wallace and Ladmo Show, which ran for over 35 years on KPHO in Phoenix.
